Guest guest
I was diagnosed about a month ago, after being a healthy 43 year old. I went from healthy to an invalid in bed, and to the hospital for ten days. I am doing better, but very discouraged with this initial acute phase. My legs have atrophied, and no strength. Prednisone use (which got me to a functional state and out of bed) has sent my blood sugar sky high. I hope this doesn't last long, but am pretty scare right now. Guest guest
Welcome to the group. I am 38 and have had Still's for 20 yrs. I have been fortunate that I have had periods of remission, so hopefully you will, too. Feel better! Gail kdwwilke wrote: I was diagnosed about a month ago, after being a healthy 43 year old. Guest guest
Hi, welcome. I am 48 and was diagnosed in 2003, after I too, was hospitalized for 8 days. At the time of release from the hospital, they didn't know what was wrong with me until 8 mos. later after I had gone through a plethora of tests and doctors and pain. Fortunately, for most of us, there is relief and hope after diagnosis with the trial and error or different meds. You've found a wonderful group of people who have gotten me through some tough times. Please feel free to ask anything you'd like because chances are that one or many of us has gone through the same experience. Hope you feel better soon. Guest guest
Hi, I'm sorry Stills has brought you here but you have found a great place for information & a group of wonderful people to support & help you. I am 45 was diagnosed in March after being ill off & on for 2 years then hospitalized. I went from working out 3 X a week to barely being able to do 1/2 hour of pool therapy 2 x a week. I also have no strength some days it's hard to even get out of bed but I am better than I was in March so that's something. I am off prednisone that was a big goal for me. I have steroid myopathy (not sure of the spelling) from high doses of prednisone I was on so hope I don't have to go back on it! I hope you get feeling better quickly. Guest guest
I hope you are one of the lucky ones and that you get a quick remission! We are here for you. Tell us how it is going. Where do you live? I am 50 and live in NJ near Philadelphia. First diagnosed in 1972. For me things could be better, but they certainly could be worse. Feel well Liz
Guest guest
>Dear One, I remember those first days myself. You will always use them as a gauge for how you're feeling. Don't be discouraged, you will be able to handle whatever Stills throws at you~ AND you have found a tremendous group of folks that know EXACTLY what you are going through. My blood sugar also went through the roof when I was on Prednisone, but that will calm down as you reduce your dose... Just don't stop that Pred all at once - that would be horrible! I know that you're very scared... I think there's times when each of us still get " concerned. " You come to this group whenever you want - you'll find loving, empathetic people who genuinely care bout you. I have not been a member long (though I've put up with Stills for decades.) In fact, this is the first time that I've been a member of any online group. I have found that it lifts my spirit, having friends that I can talk to, knowing that they understand the whining and venting, and the rejoicing over large and small triumphs. So, right now, you are BETTER! WOO-HOO! You're out of bed! That's progress! I will be praying for you~ Kind Regards, Pat (Austin, Texas) > I was diagnosed about a month ago, after being a healthy 43 year old. > I went from healthy to an invalid in bed, and to the hospital for ten > days. Guest guest
Hi Sweetie, I am 34 years old and had Stills since I was 11, at least thats what my docs say. I wasnt diagnosed till a few years ago after a huge flare. I hope you kick this flare soon. I would slay that dragon with a giant sword if I could. Stills is no fun, but prednisone seems to help me too. I am praying that your blood sugar becomes normal soon. I had a terrible flare like yours a few years ago. I know where you are coming from. I couldnt move at all. It was nice meeting you. please keep updating if you can so we know how you are. I know it is hard on my hands and back to be at the computer, so I will look for you from time to time. xxxxooooo I am sending you gentle hugs....
