Guest guest Posted November 2, 2003 Report Share Posted November 2, 2003 Hello All, As most of you know, my daugther was married yesterday and it was wonderful all around. The ceremony was beautiful Mom was wheeled down the aisle by her grandchildren and who flew up from Conn. Well, the entire church started bawling and crying. Mom looked so beautiful in her new dress/suit and she was holding the heart pillow with the rings. We watched some wedding video earlier this evening and because I was escorting down the aisle I couldn't see mom's big entrance. Poor thing was just staring at all the guest sitting in the pew but she did fine. During the ceremony I had to walk over to her pew twice - once because she was having major tremors and then again because she started crying. I knelt down to her and said " mom, are you crying? " to which she responded " no, I'm not peeing! " ....it took all I had not to burst out laughing. We went off to take pictures at the park with the beautiful autum foliage while mom went home to sleep. My sister-in-law took such good care of mom. The reception hall was decorated so beautifully and the food was fantastic. I danced with and we barely looked at each other to prevent ourselves from crying our eyes out. Then danced with her grandmother and that was it. I cried so hard that I practically had to jam my napkin in my mother to prevent myself from making noise. My immediate family feel apart and cried and cried. Mom was doing a very slow two step with who was also crying. Thank God we have this on tape. When we watched it again this afternoon I started bawling again. My poor 16 year old nephew was a wreak yesterday while he watched his grandmother dance with his cousin and we held on to each other and cried some more. Well, all in all it was a beautiful day and mom did so well that she was able to stay til 10:00pm! The bride and groom are off to Cancun tomorrow for a week. I took the day off today and packed up tons of food from the wedding to send to my family and close friends. I had over 20 of those aluminum trays full of lobster, crab, mussels, clams, shrimp, roast beef, filet of sole, chicken, rice, potates, mixed veggies, etc to divide and give away and I've still got tons left. I also brought home 8 cakes, a huge tray of flan, 3 boxes of wedding cake, 2 huge trays of fruits and a large tray of tarts and assorted desserts!!!! Whew, I'm going to be busy eating over the next few day. Too bad you all couldn't come over to my house and help me eat all this stuff! The wedding was wonderful and my daughter was absolutely stunning! The other day my 11 year old daughter Deidre started to cry, and when I asked her why she said it was because she knew her Grandpa wouldnt be around to see her get married or have children. So when I read your post I realized how lucky is that her Grandmother could play such a monumental role in her special day. Cant wait to see pix, dont forget to post some!! PS..the food list is makin me hungry! Do you do what we do here and that is save a layer of cake for the Bride and Groom to eat at their first Anniversary? Course you have to freeze it! Your Mom sounds like she did so well. And you had help that let you do what you needed to do. The video's are so fun to have for later. Now with a bit of rest you can take a few breaths. I am looking forward to the pictures. You must be so happy and proud of yourself! I ihave been working with the numbers. According to the food you have there, it would be less expensive for me to fly over and eat all I can than to go and get myself a comparable dinner here in Miami!!! Your wish can come true!!!! When do you want me there? LOL!!!!! Seriously, you are torturing us with food!!!!!!! I am so glad everything is so happy for you. I know that parents/grandparents aren't suppose to have favorites but my parents would tell you in no uncertain terms that was their Queen. In fact, my mom starts off the day remembering me but then thinks I'm . I'm so glad that we have the wedding/reception on tape and my mom waving (ok, so who's counting if it's in the opposite direction?) and smiling. Wish you could be here and help me eat all those cakes (had a slice of all of them last night and nearly burst!). I have saved the top layer of their cake well wrapped in the freezer as well as 's flowers, my corsage, the groom's bottoneire and my son's as well. I am also drying all the roses that were at the head table and have started to root all of the ivy that decorated the head table and will put it in a pot for the newlyweds for them to have a living reminder of their wedding day. As I suspected, all those that won the candleabra center pieces were very happy. I have a pair myself and displayed it at home. It was a beautiful wedding but I have to tell you that if you are a caregiver and your child tells you that they want to have a formal wedding in 7 weeks......run!
