Hi All,

Well, I just received a phone call from my sons GI ped. at the Univ. of

land. He would like us to see a Nephrologist A.S.A.P.. 's lab work

indicates that he most likely has, Renal Tubular Acidosis. After reviewing past

labs as well as present this is what all the abnormals point to. (low carbon

dioxide, high lactic acid and abnormal urinalysis. What next?

Although I've never heard this disease mentioned on the list, I was

wondering if anyone has any information as to how this can be related to a

developmental delay or ?

I started surfing the web. and have already read that it can be an autoimmune

disorder and that there are four different types. I think that he may have type

II. The Dr. mentioned a medicine called Bicitra? He said that we could manage

the disorder easily with this medicine? I'm a little freaked out by this, I'm

also soooo angry. I started looking up old labs from 2 1/2 yrs. ago all the

abnormals were there but no one could put it together. I hope that he's not

permanently damaged because of this!

Sorry, I'm rambling on. Any information would be appreciated.

Take care,

Was one of 's symptoms frequent urination, and a lot of it?

Thanks!

Hi Argie,

This was huge problem in the past , but I haven't really noticed any urinary

frequency lately.

I can't really say that I notice any symptoms except that he has failed to gain

weight in a few years. He's as thin as a rail. He's a picky eater but he eats a

fair amount of food. More than my other children ate and they were always chubby

little kids. HTH,
