Yes, I could probably write a book on the subject myself . We did find some

of it helpful and some not.

Suzanne,

The SSRI's are used for reasons not connected to controlling behavior or

like anti-psychotics. They are used for their neuroprotective benefits, and

fine-tuning of the neuro-immune axis. Everything is geared towards a

healthier more normally functioning brain by removing those things that help

keep the immune system stimulated rather than adding many substances to

over-ride things metabolically or otherwise.

I can tell you I have tried all bio-medical approaches available, and I

won't say it hasn't helped at all, but he can't tolerate much of it, and we

are

where he won't get much better unless something else if tried.

Which for me is the anti-virals, SSRI's etc.

Cheryl,

This is spelled out very well...thanks.

This help explains (I think) why we have seen improvements after

increasing an SSRI dose....especially when it was preceded by an

ilness!! Or the flu shot!!

Additionally, I beleive there are biomedical treatments that can

assist the immune system, but I would never test them on my child

who cannot explain to me how they might be making him feel, because

not all bodies react the same (as we all well know). I feel safer

with Dr G's approach of using clean pharmaceuticals.

Just my 2 cents.
