Guest guest
I have always thought that the treatment for yeast is antifungals, either RX or natural (we have GSE here and OLE). Now I'm learning (from researching and from all of you...THANKS) that massive doses of probiotics can battle yeast as well. Okay, I always knew probiotics are good and promote healthy gut flora, etc. but what I'm reading here and online lately is making me believe that I can promote a healthy gut flora and battle yeast at the same time with probiotics (I went to the Custom Probiotics website.) First question, do the antifungals kill the probiotics if given at the same time? Second question, I am giving one capsule of Culturelle to my child every day. I'm now guessing that this is not nearly enough. How many should I be giving? Should I add in something with more " billions of good guys " like VSL #3? Or, if ordering with Custom Probiotics, has anyone used D-lactate free probiotic recommended for autistic children with any noted success/improvements? This stuff is pretty stinkin' expensive and I don't want to order it if I can have as much success with a cheaper probiotic. Thanks for your input,
Guest guest
Hi - Thank you for this post, because I have a similar question/situation. I too always thought that Probiotics were necessary and helped with establishing good gut flora... but did not realize that some have battled yeast with them and without anything else. I also read McCarthy say that she started her son on a prescription anti-fungal and then stopped that after 2 weeks and just used ThreeLac. I guess she continues to use ThreeLac. I am trying to decide if I should start my DS (only 19mos old and 25.5 lbs.) on a stronger regimen of probiotics( I was looking at Custom D Lactate free product too) and see if this is enough( how would I know?). Do you then use a prescription anti-fungal on top of it?? Currently, I am giving my DS 2 capsules of a multi-strain probiotic which equates to about 5-10 billion cells/day. I am thinking this may not be enough to battle his yeast issues? thanks for any thoughts, denise > > I have always thought that the treatment for yeast is antifungals, > either RX or natural (we have GSE here and OLE).
