Guest guest
I am thrilled to find this chat! We have a 4 1/2 year old (son) with Autism. A 6 year old (son) undergoing possible ADD findings. And my Mother, was diagnosed 6 years ago with CFS. We have a 7 1/2 year old, " typical " thus far, and grateful! How do any of you suggest we get started? We have Kaiser Perm. ins. and are considering changing that to undergo testing needed. Are there a list of M.D.'s who are involved in or should I contact Dr. Goldberg and go from there. Any advice is helpful and appreciated! We are adready removing what little dairy was in his diet. Thank You in advance Tracie
Guest guest
Hi Tracie and welcome to the list, I would say start with changing insurance, because you will see along the way you will have to do bloodwork every other month,(sometimes every month),so that can get expensive if you don't have an insurance plan that covers for these tests. What state do you live?If you live in California, then I believe dr.Goldberg is the physician to see.People fly from across the country to see him. However,if your budget is tight, and traveling too much can be a problem for you, then call dr.Goldberg's office and ask his staff who he would recommend in your state that follows the protocol. And if you decide to have your son treated by dr.Goldberg,I wouls make the appointment right now, even before the insurance changes, because it takes long to get that 1st appointment anyway. Back in 2001,when my son was diagnosed,I called for an appointment in September and their 1st opening was in March-six months later.I guess this should be enough time for you to take care of the insurance issue. We live in California, but it takes 5 hours one-way to the office,so it is hard to go every month. We go every other month and the months we're do not go,we do bloodwork and of course we have a phone consultation during this time.I have to tell you in advance that phone consultations are not covered by insurance,so you will have to pay the amount of the phone consult. out of your own pocket. It is not a large amount though, and it doesn't hurt anyone's budget. Hope this helped, and good luck, Marina. On Tue, 27 Apr 2004 16:59:38 -0000 " connorsmom35 " <connorsmom35@...> writes: I am thrilled to find this chat! We have a 4 1/2 year old (son) with Autism. We are in South CA. I will call tomorrow to see if we can set up an appt. We currently have Kaiser Perm. as our ins. but are considering changing this to see if it would help pay any expenses for Dr. Goldberg and bloodwork etc. Thank You for your time and help!
