Guest guest
Dear Steve, Now that's something that I had never thought of. I'm sure if we ate food that we were allergic to, it would have to add stress to our little bodies (I use that term loosely! LOL) Perhaps I should be tested... another doctor... hmmm I'm eager to hear from the rest of the group. Kind Regards, Pat Austin, TX
Guest guest
Dear Steve, Before I was on so many meds (Many years ago) I found that if I had ONE shot of Tequila, then the next day, I felt so much BETTER. I have no idea why - alcohol opening up veins? Beats me. However, those days are long past (bummer) since the mtx, morphine, etc are already hard enough on my poor liver! Guest guest
I’ve read MANY things about food intolerances causing internal inflammation especially in and around where the food is digested. In turn this can cause arthritic pain and/or joint pain to become worse. I’ve spoke with my doctor and whilst food is probably not the cause of Stills – there is always that possibility that if we eat food that our body doesn’t ‘get along with’ it would make things worse. As I say, every single time I go out and drink heavily, I flare the day after – I don’t think I’ve ever done this and not flared. Yet I drink lager, which I really don’t think agrees with me. I was tested at a herbalist but was a bit skeptical. Everything appeared normal apart from wheat. She said I was intolerant to it. There is wheat in the lager I drink so go figure Steve _____ From: Stillsdisease [mailto:Stillsdisease ] On Behalf Of Milligal@... Guest guest
Yeah, 12 pints may be pushing the envelope & stressing your body... it's always a balancing act! Kind Regards, Pat Austin, TX
Guest guest
That’s interesting Pat, so does Alcohol open up the veins? I notice if I have 1 pint of lager, I feel much better after consuming it. The pain eases quite a lot. If I have a skinful (say 12 pints) then the following day and especially the day after, I can flare considerably. Perhaps it’s a mixture of the alcohol plus a late night. I made a post regarding the Adrenal Glands a few days ago, and it said that alcohol put a lot of stress on them. Steve _____ From: Stillsdisease [mailto:Stillsdisease ] On Behalf Of Milligal@... Guest guest
I think it's because alcohol is a drug which can suppress the pain. Many people medicate with alcohol because the pain lessens and so they " feel " better. I had to do this when absolutely no docs would believe the pain i was in and help me. I'd have 2 vodka cranberries in the evening and I would feel a thousand times better becuase the pain wasn't as prevelant. Alcohol is a drug. But for the general body, it's gonna make you feel like poop, as we all know. And most especially if you are allergic. I think the allergy can build up so it's not like you are just having a reaction the one time you drink it, you are building up that allergy. If you went a long time without consumign anything you are allergic to, you migth feel loads better simply by getting the allergy out of your system and keeping it that way by staying away from anything that can activate it. simply my .02 cents on the subject. But in my brain it makes sense, lol! Houston
