Guest guest
Annie, I was looking for end stages the whole 4 years Mom was with me and had the same question you are asking. When they are in the end stages, I learned, you will most certainly know it. It isn't the same as most deaths, that you are surprised with them not waking up in the morning. They physically deteriorate. What I will forward you are some end stage articles. Even during end stage events, you will most likely have one or two weeks with hospice before your LO dies. They quit eating and drinking. The thing that gets in the way of our LO's life is the fact they have a death sentence. The better issue is the one you are addressing. How they LIVE the best they can the rest of their life. Going to Daycare and doing some things is good for them. And you will see they have an improved quality of life with involving them in anything including day care. Getting up, dressed and going somewhere as long as they can, expands their world. Even when they grumble about having to do it. I think they are so aware of what they no longer CAN do, when they can do things they feel better. And this give you as a caregiver, a break too. Hope this helps. These are just my reflections looking back and is much different than looking at it from the angle you are looking at it.
