Guest guest
Donna: I meant I miss the weather. I do especially at Christmas. My last white Christmas was 5 or 6 years ago that my daughters and I went to Virginia to my cousin's farm. We had a huge snow storm on the 24th and flurries on Christmas day! It was so beautiful! My cousin and her husband retired and moved to Miami, so I don't think we will have any more white Christmas for a while. I a sorry about your body not doing what it used to. Mine doesnt exactly do what it used to, but I fight it by exercising. You will be surprised how all those aches and pains go away with a good exercise routine. It will also make you feel younger, and you deserve to feel younger and pain free! Hugs and sunshine. Josie

Guest guest
Josie, I know, I was only kidding with you. If I could have snow the 23-24-and 25 and then have sunny Florida, I would love that weather. I do like snow for Christmas, and I would give it up the rest of the year. And the year I lived in Georgia, I did miss snow for Christmas. I am almost to the weight that I may be able to start exercising. I recently dropped 25 lbs and I have one more 25 to go. My knees are gone from when I lifted Mom to much. With the added weight of my own, I destroyed knees. It is almost easy to walk and will start some mild exercising soon. Thanks for the good tips. By the way, we got snow last night! Have a sunny Christmas. Donna

Guest guest
Dear Donna: I know you were kidding! I do miss white Christmas, though. We lived in N.J. many years and got used to it then. I went to school in Indiana and liked even better because the climate is so much dryer than in N.J., and they have real summers. Of course, there is no beating the East Coast with its wonderful cities and culture! We are hoping for cool and dry for Christmas Eve (big Cuban celebration) and Christmas day. I am sorry you are having trouble with your knees. When I was activelly rowing I met a lady that had both knees repaced. She was rowing because her surgeon said it was a very good exercise and it did not put pressure on her knees. The DR suggested she start rowing. This lady went rowing with me one day and she was so much better and stronger than I was! She admitted to being 79, yes seventy-nine. We all knew she lied about her age! LOL! I lost some weight as well, I was 150 lbs. when I started rowing, 7 years ago. It took me a long time. I lost the last 15 lbs. last summer with the Atkins diet. I make a big effort to keep the cholesterol intake down, and I eat a lot of nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds etc. I also had a dancing accident that dislocated my hip and tore something there. I heard it crack. The DR was going to give me muscle relaxants and physical therapy. I didn't to back, but started walking on my own right over the pain. Eventually I was able to jog and then run. My mom had a successful knee replacement surgery when she was 84. They gave her and epidural for the surgery because they didn't want to use general anesthesia because of her age. Now I am recommending it to everyone, so we don't trigger LBD. Well, I have to get off the podium. Last words: eat healthy, exercise much and take your vitamins!!!!!!!!!! LOL!! Guest guest
Donna: Sorry, this is my third post to you. The better shape you are in, the easier the recovery. Also, you have to undergo physical therapy after surgery. How great would it be to have strong muscles before you start? My cousin, he is 70, 6'2 " and 220 lbs., also had the surgery and he recuperated better than my mom. He always exercises. The physical therapists usually give the patient some Advil half an hour before they start exercising, to lower the pain level. Guest guest
Josie, It has been recommended to me to have knee surgery. Scares me to death. I hate pain! But thanks for sharing the good results with me. Sometimes I only hear the horror stories. Guess it wouldn't hurt to start strenghing the muscles anyway. Guest guest
Donna, Are they going to do an arthroscopic? In 1994 they considered a knee replacement but the doctor said he would do 2 arthroscopic procedures first. When he finished the surgery he said he cleaned it as well as he could but there was no support left and it probably would not last. I have yet to have further pain in that knee so if that is the procedure do it!!! He gave me pills for pain which are still untouched...the surgery was that easy. Good luck! Simmel Re: Snow!!!
