Guest guest
Hi Stilligans- I knew it was coming, but I was praying just in case it wanted to pass on by. My son has walking pneumonia and the flu, my hubby has, I think, Bronchitis and NOW I am coughing, and it hurts so bad when I cough!!!! Nothing else is going on, yet. Just the cough, no fever, I am aching but I think that is due to needing to change my patch. We will see tomorrow morning. I have a question, I know we aren't drs. but anyone that is on remicade and or MTX when you have a cold do you take any over the counter cold meds or cough meds??? I haven't been sick since being on remicade so I am nervous about taking anything over the counter. I , of course, skipped my mtx shot this week and I am hoping I am better before my next remicade infusion. Any advice, opinions or experiences about the over the counter meds while on remicade is appreciated! Take care- Love and support, Keri in CA ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Any questions? Get answers on any topic at www.Answers.yahoo.com. Guest guest
who is your GP here in Houston? I'm in need of a really good one. Re: all who are on remicade- need advice Hi Keri, I'm not on Remicade, but i am leary of taking any OTC meds without talking with the doc first. With all the medications we are on, it just seems to be a precarious balance. I have also learned that at first sign of something going on, I high tail it to my GP. The staff there now knows that when i call urgently, to get me into the nurse practioner ASAp because a cough develops into severe bronchitis for me within a day. I'd rather be safe and see the doc and get meds at hte front rather than after i have been sick. i hope everyone in your house gets well soon. Guest guest
Tracey, I see Salvato ()at Twelve Oaks and i HIGHLY recommend her. If you just type in her name in google, you will see all kinds of articles about her, her research, articles she has written, etc. She has a lot of HIV and CFIDS patients and that makes her uniquely able to also deal with a immune-dysfunction patient (like myself). She never makes me feel like i'm a lunatic, she always wants to know every single symptom I have, and she has solutions. She doesn't blink at my very long list of meds and when i say i am in pain, she believes me. I have never had such a caring and understanding doctor before. Every doctor she has referred me to has been a great referral as well. She recommended Pegram to me. When you go in, you first see the nurse for vitals. Then the nurse practioner comes in - she's awesome too (I see her on my 'emergency' visits when I have a cold, etc) and then Dr. Salvato comes in. So you are seeing a number of people who all seem to genuinely care. Oh, and she's never mentioned my weight. I've talked about it and she said if i want to try some things for it, she's willing to help, but that she wants me to feel better generally and not focus on weight unless i feel that is the cause of my problems - which it is not of course. So all around, a hearty thumbs up for her. I recommend her to everyone I know that have challenging medical problems. Houston
