female issues/what my doc said

Okay, my doc says something's definitely wrong because upon examination, my

uterus is swollen. He suspects a fibroid(s). We discussed my options,

including surgery. We decided to go with Provera. I take it for 2 weeks, then

off 2 weeks. He wants to see how I do after two cycles, see if the bleeding &

pain get any better.

I asked him about side effects of Provera and he said some women experienced

irritabilty. I had to laugh b/c after all, Pred is something I take and often

causes me to growl, lol... He looked very sheepish and slightly embarrassed b/c

he had to ask me what Still's was (this was not my normal gyno, couldn't get in

to see him for almost 2 mos.) I was happy to explain, of course, I am very

patient about that since it's so rare & unheard of.

So, we'll see if this works. The other two options, I think someone mentioned

this first one, ablation? But, then they'd had to remove my IUD, and sterilize

me. I am thinking, what's the point, if you're going to sterilize me, take it

all out! Anyway, I am supposed to have an ultra sound day after Christmas (just

what I wanted to do instead of hitting the after Christmas sales, lol...). He

said the ultra sound would show fibroids, but not always exactly where they

were.

Okay, there's my report... if any of you ladies have had problems with this,

let me know. I believe you can't make ANY decision until it's an INFORMED

decision.

Hugs,

Gail

Gail,

I'm glad you found out what is causing the issue. I've not had

fibroids, but have friends who have and somehow they have been able to

control things. I'll ask around and see if I can get some real life

experience for you.

I'm hoping the Provera will work well for you. Fingers crossed. (and

hey, maybe Provera and Pred together will make you happy! lol)
