Guest guest
Gail, I've not been through anything like what you are facing, but I wanted to say ouch, wow, and eek. I sure would want to find the cause and try my damndest to remedy it. Not only is just the inconvenience of bleeding horrific, but the pain, hormone fluctuations and the irritation of having to catch the bleeding just can't be good for you. Are you also having blood taken out each month? My dad has to donate as much as possible so the iron doesn't load up. He can either donate blood to an organization, or he has to go in so the doc can do it (but they just throw that blood away). Just wondering if you are doing that and the bleeding. Let us know how the appt goes and what the outcome and decision are. I would definitely recommend a 2nd opinion before a hysterectomy. It can't hurt to see what another qualified, trusted doc thinks before you go the surgery option. We'll be thinking about you. Guest guest
Hi gail Just posting to wish you well with your gyno appointment tomorrow hope they come up with a solution for you as you do have some difficult medical problems. Can't offer any ideas but thinking of you. All the best Joan U.K. _____ From: Stillsdisease [mailto:Stillsdisease ] On Behalf Of Gail Sent: 10 December 2006 18:59 To: stillsdisease Subject: female issues... Hey, gang, I am worried about an appt with my gyno tomorrow. Okay, fellas, I got no beef with any of you reading this, but please be aware, it IS about female problems, lol... I am sure this has nothing to do with Still's, but over the past year it's gotten worse. I am 38 and am basically bleeding most of the month. Plus I have terrible cramps, so bad it puts me down for a couple days with a heating pad. Pain meds don't even help. I am to where I am only having 5-12 days between cycles and I am getting very sick and tired of buying boxes & boxes of tampons! I guess my fear is, I probably need surgery and with the Still's & meds I take, it worries me. I also have Hemochromatosis (Iron Loading Disease) which my Rheumy thinks is causing all my bleeding (my body's natural way of ridding me of the excess iron). However, the pain and inconvenience of it are just too much. If I didn't have to deal with Still's, maybe I'd tolerate it better. So, if I end up having a hysterectomy, my iron will begin loading even more quickly than before. So I feel like I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. The only logic answer I can come up with is, I know that eventually menopause will occur naturally, so I am just putting off the inevitable. I had surgery 3 years ago to remove my right ovary & fallopian tube (I had severe scarring from a previous ruptured ectopic pregnancy). Now, my worst pain is there, in the right side. I am sure it is more scar tissue that developed. Okay, I'm just worried and wanted to talk... surgery scares me with my medical history. I still have a blood clot in my sub-clavian vein, so they always make me stay longer to go through a couple bags of Heparin as a precaution. So, if any of you gals have been through this, I'd appreciate your comments. And I will let you know what the doc says... Hope everyone is having a good weekend.. Guest guest
HI Gail, I used to have a horrible time with my periods then at 32 I had a complete hysterectomy I wasn't sick with Stills then. It was a blessing because I really suffered with that time of the month from a young age. Just my 2 cents. Chris Gail wrote: Hey, gang, I am worried about an appt with my gyno tomorrow. Guest guest
Hello Gail, Sorry to hear you are so unwell. I had a similar experience when I was 39 - which we now know with hindsight was the onset of an early menopause. I was having severe flairs at the time which wasn't diagnosed as Still's 'til years later - so the possible connection between the conditions was not explored. Wishing you well with the gyno appointment and hope you feel much better soon. Carole (UK) > Gail wrote: > Hey, gang, I am worried about an appt with > my gyno tomorrow.
