Guest guest
Greetings all; I'm still trying to recover from a long flare. If I was on the ball, this email would have received a prompt response. Prednisone can cause many side effects, physical and psychological. One thing our physician should be monitoring through blood tests is electrolytes. We can have water retention and still have a low sodium level. I do. I never use salt on my food or in cooking. I don't care for salty food. Please don't drink large amounts of water without checking with your physician and having your blood tests monitored. Too much water can be hard on the kidneys, imbalance electrolytes, and flush red blood cells away. It happened to me not long ago and I was hospitalized with kidney failure. I almost died. If you are drinking a lot of water (don't forget we take in water from other fluids and food), please ask your physician if your blood counts and electrolytes are normal. If anything is abnormal, ask about it! In Peace, Barbara Gardner Ventura, CA Pred can retain water and keep salt in the body, so do you think drinking say 3-4 litres of water a day would help to avoid water retention as too much salt makes this worse. I never put salt on my food as an extra, and try to avoid food high in salt as much as I can. Steve

Guest guest
I had a grand mal seizure from low electrolytes. I was drinking alot of cranberry juice and water. Definitely check w/ a doctor before increasing anything in your diet. It is true what they say..... everything in moderation.
