Guest guest
Dr. G will actually be cheaper than pretty much any DAN! dr. in CA that doesn't take insurance. His initial appointment is $325 and his monthly appointments are $185. I don't know of any DAN that charges $185 for their monthly appointments here. The cost of labs, of course, is not included in that price. For the initial appointment, you can expect to pay about $525 as (at least when we went) the allergy panel does not take insurance and it costs $199. The rest of the labs you should be able to do within your insurance. You should also be able to get out of network coverage with the superbill you will be given. To my knowledge, he doesn't do any test, other than the allergy panel, that isn't done with a regular (non-autism) lab. All of our labs have come from Labcorp and Esoterix.I will say that the ssri has been a blessing for my son. We've titrated up *slowly* to his "regular" dose. It has taken us about a year to get to that dose and with each increase we've seen big gains. The only thing we've tried that hasn't seemed to do much is Tenex so we will be discussing pulling it (we've already lowered the dose with no change). He does not do many supplements. The only supplements we are on is an iron pill, a regular mulitvitamin and melatonin.Honestly, I can't be happier with my son's care and progress. He was a complete non-responder to DAN and NIDS has been a success for us.My first question is how long of a trial of antivirals/antifungals did you do? It's not something you can do for a short period.CherylI am thinking of making an appointment with Goldberg for her, and perhpas Matt too...though Matt is making gains so we may just stay the course for now in his case as Dr G does not take our insurance so he will be expensive for our family. Terr had a terrible yeast overgrowth earlier this year and behaviors that were according to therapists high on the spectrum. We did a trial of valtrex and an antifungal and everything just went away...we did diet changes to and those are still in place. We stopped the RXs bc all signs of yeast disappeared and her behavior was normal again...well it is 3 am at our house and my son and daughter are both up and wide awake. Wide awake. SShe is clearing her throat again and her tongue is starting to look very coated and white again too...my heart is just breaking for her. No behavior changes so far and she is very compliant at this time and this about her diet needs....what is with this YEAST - is it a sign that she has immune injuries too from her vaccines.....I am scared to death of the SSRI angle with Goldberg, which is why we have not gone there yet. Unlike Matt she does not have the huge gut issues, so she is perhaps a better candidate for the kind of help he offers. I just feel frozen right now as I know Stan is not a fan, but I need to help my little girl somehow and I cannot telll if this reoccurring yeast issue is an immune dysfunction or not....
