Guest guest Posted January 7, 2007 Report Share Posted January 7, 2007 Hi everyone... Last week I finally got in to see a pain management doctor after waiting nearly 8 weeks. After trying many non-medication pain relievers (physical therapy, accupuncture etc...) I was ready for some help in correctly using pain meds. My primary care has been great about prescribing the meds, just not able to help with using them effectively. So after a bit of discussion we decided to start with oxycontin three times a day. I have been taking the version mixed with tylenol on an " as needed " basis and it wasn't working. So I started yesterday, took two pills 8 hours apart, had some trouble sleeping last night. Oh, he also told me that if I had breakthrough pain that it was okay to take a vicoprofen after a couple of hours, so I did that yesterday. Not a great idea for me... was I loopy!!! So I thought I was having trouble sleeping from taking both meds. Well I have only taken the oxycontin today, 8 hours apart and I can't seem to fall asleep. I am also itching, reminds of being on the morphine pump after surgery. Has anyone else had either sleep issues or itching while on this med? Thanks for the input...
