I also get Dr. mercola's newletter and believe fundamentaly in his ideas

about avoiding grains, but I don't like some of his posts about hep c...he

said specifically that it is sexually transmitted, and I sent him an email

saying that I thought this was irresponsible and uninformed on his part and

that he should print a retraction, and never heard from him, fyi...it makes

me mad

Barb,

I mostly monitor the postings on the list. I do not see doctor local

here anymore, and had saw one, and heard about another. If you have

questions about local doctors, chances are you can get some feed

back. I think they are very helpful.

Peggy,

Can you give me any info on the Armour thyroid? My sister insists it's the

only way to go but I've asked two of my doctors to prescribe Armour instead

of Synthroid and both said no that I was better off with the synthetic

because it is better regulated. How did you get on Armour? What kind of

doctor is it? I want to be on natural thyroid so bad. I have this weird

idea it will help my diabetes.

THANKS in advance,

Suej

Suej,

Take a look at www.stopthethyroidmadness.com

There is a wealth of info there that I think can help you. (That you could

perhaps use to enlighten your doctor.)

Suej,

I go to a naturopath. I was very lucky, I figured out conventional Dr's

would kill you if you let them, about the time my thyroid gave out. You can

sometimes find an MD that has gone over to holistic or natural remedies.

ICON health is a clinic I went to previously. Insurance will pay for your

Dr. visits if you can find this type. I now go to a Naturopath. Insurance

only pays for tests. Thyroid is related to Metabolic Syndrome, that turns

into diabetes, if it goes untreated. I was almost there. I take

supplements and do not eat anyyyyy sugar except a tiny bit of stevia, nor

do I eat anyyyyy complex carbs...pasta, bread no wheat at all. The only

thing that will fix your diabetes, is diet and exercise. You have to loose

weight, and no thyroid med is going to do that. I highly recommend organic

unrefined cocnut oil. Natural things are slow to heal you, but they do,

and you are actually healed, not just covering up symptoms. I use to be on

320 grns of Armour. Now I'm down to 120. My largest problem now is

exercise. I hate it, because I have a serious intolerance to heat. Nobody

has figured out why. I should be cold with low thyroid, and my body temp is

really low...95.6, but I'm one hot Mamma! LOL! I just added MCT oil to my

regime yesterday. It's supposed to help with energy, and metablolism. I'll

say I did do more yesterday than I normally do.. So we'll see how that goes.

I do think you are on the right track with the natural thyroid. But the

real answer...sucks...diet and exercise. I've done it....One doesn't work

without the other. I am good with eating right...but if I don't exercise,

the weight comes right back. Eating right isn't necessarily low cal. Nuts,

healthy oils, good protein, are high calorically. You still have to

exercise to maintain a healthy weight. Diabetes is almost always related to

being over weight. All of my labs are totally normal when I exercise. We

just bought a house and I've been totally absorbed in the remodel of it for

the Last 5 MOS. I've been busy, but not exercising and I've gained 15 lbs

and that's eating healthy. Wish I could say Armour would help your diabetes

...but I don't think it will unless you eat right and exercise. I do believe

it's better for you than the synthroid though. It treats both t3 and 4.

Sysnthroid doesn't. Try to get yourself a good Natural Dr that is an MD if

you can. If not, holistic or naturopath...which I really prefer.

Conventional Dr.'s had nearly killed me with conventional drugs. Read, you

know yourself better than any Dr does. The only time for Conventional

medicine in my opinion is when your in a car crash or accident

and need to be sewn up. Hope I was some help...

You are very welcome..

Not exactly true, Todd; each fatty acid has quite different properties, even the

MCT oils. This translates to different bacterial kills, the amount of energy

produced, the amount of cell lysis as the fatty acid is assimilated, that kind

of thing. " MCT oil " was used in the research precisely to prevent clouding of

the results that whole coconut oil would have yielded. Your own results are

different with whole coconut oil compared to a real MCT oil too.

all good,

Duncan
