Guest guest
Dr. Allan Panzer (he and his wife Mellody are the founders of the AHA) asked us to post the following information which he posted on the " meetup " group as they are not on our Texas-Autism-Advocacy board. Please contact him directly via phone. I am also the founder of the Aim High Academy for Autism in Houston. I am sad to inform you all that it is just not economically feasible to run a school for ABA given the costs of one to one treatment. Add the cost of supervision, insurance, rent, and taxes, and the cost is prohibitive. I have started packing up the school. Some folks have posted that it is a shame parents can't take it over. I truly wish that they would. I cannot be of any help except to provide the facility which has over one hundred thousand dollars worth of improvements. If any of you have discussed among yourselves taking on this venture, please contact me before I move all the furniture out. I don't hold out much hope of that happening, but stranger things have occured. As many parents have stated, " its a real shame that this area of Houston can't support a school " . The biggest problem is administration. If parents took that on, the other costs would be considerably less. I believe that without a debt, and parental involvement in the day to day running of the school, it could be done.
