Dear PROVE Texas members,

Please join us at the Texas Capitol in Austin on this Tuesday, February 13th

from 9:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. to help us get the word out to legislators why

the HPV vaccine should NOT be mandated!

While the actions of Governor continue to astonish and offend, they have

also provided an opportunity for education unmatched by any in the ten years of

our existence. Yes, this happens to be PROVE's tenth anniversary! For ten

years we have remained true to our mission of promoting and protecting the right

of every person to make informed independent vaccination decisions for

themselves and their family. Along the way we have become a coalition of

thousands of Texas families that have successfully shaped immunization policies

and practices through participation in the legislative process. We are grateful

to each and every one of you and are asking for continued support as we work to

address the HPV mandate and the problems surrounding it.

A number our State Senators and Representatives are working to counter the

Governor's Executive Order requiring immunization against HPV. We would like to

take this opportunity to thank them and support their efforts, by providing

additional information to all legislators on the problems with an HPV vaccine

mandate.

The Governor's Executive Order has resulted in a broad group of people coming

together to denounce his action, and voice concerns about safety, efficacy, cost

and informed consent. It has also focused a great deal of attention on the

right to an exemption, now being referred to as " opt out " . He attempts to show

support for parental rights by suggesting parents opposed to the mandate can

" opt out " for their children. While Texas statute provides exemptions to

immunization, there are serious problems with the process and the Governor's

order does nothing to solve them, leaving many families unable to use the and

still forced to vaccinate. We will explain these problems in our meeting with

you so you can help educate legislator why opting in is the only fair option.

Our friends at the Texas Eagle Forum will also be out in force on this day to

oppose the HPV mandate and educate on other issues, and we felt the synergy of

the two groups popping in and out of offices opposing mandated HPV vaccination

would help get our concerns across better!

We will have a short briefing meeting to discuss the issues and provide you with

everything you need to visit your legislators' offices and voice your concerns.

We apologize for the short notice and hope that you can make arrangements to

come. Dress is business or business casual, but please make sure to wear

comfortable walking shoes.

Please RSVP ASAP by replying to this email note with your names and contact

information and where you are coming from so we can print your name tag ahead of

time and make sure you are assigned to visit your personal elected

representative and senator. If you already know who they are, if you can

indicate their names in your RSVP that will help save us some time.
