Guest guest
Hi Kev, We did Berard AIT with a SAIT certified practitioner....I can't say it had any real or lasting impact on my sons. Rocky Mountain Learning's " The listening program " did help with auditory defensiveness, but I wouldn't begin to tout these therapies as a " cure " . Good luck, I hope you get what you need from this for your children!
Guest guest
God I know how individual it is. My son did Tomatis (the expensive one) and now does Samonas CDs at home. I probably represent the other side of the camp. With Tomatis - we saw some amazing stuff the first time (got toilet trained in two weeks - following directions better - better articulation). The second round we did not see as much. We do Samonas at home - now that he is 5 - his talking and auditory processing improves after each round of 3 weeks. I have see some of the negative stuff - the hyper sensitivity and big increases in stimming - happen to a good number of kids. That's why everything we do is so individual to each and every child. I admit it is so hard to make these choices. I always think you should try the AIT - start with the less expensive ones like Samonas and see how they do. Just my 2 cents. Guest guest
i will be " trying " ait next week on my son (autistic, apraxia, sensory dysf, etc., etc.). just turned 7 yrs old. had the initial eval yesterday with neg results. anyway, this is through " integrated therapy solutions " frequentely advertised in parents magazines in los angeles area. very, very, expensive! i know there are more lesser expensive stuff out there but, i feel initially, i'd rather have a " professional " have at it first and then, once i get into the swing of things, i will feel confident on the maintenance side of the listening program. my son is a hard case. ill have to let you know his reactions to this therapy. i believe it will be a great help. vicki in los angeles
Guest guest
I looked into AIT therapy years ago. It is quite a lucrative business to get into. As a Health Care Provider I can rent the box, the tapes, the headphones for $900.00 and keep it a month. Then I can charge a $100.00 per half hour per session, mandatory 10 sessions and with one patient I get my initial investment back! I did not do this but was most impressed that the offer was made to me by a " reputable " AIT center. I chose not to do AIT with my own child because after reading everything that was available in the literature I couldn't find any reasonable medical rationale. However, unlike megavitamins, chelation, secretin, and other money makers out there it probably doesn't do much harm. Kathy -NNY
