Susi,

It has been a couple of years since our initial consultation with Dr.

Goldberg, but my son's SPECT showed some hyperperfusion and I remember Dr.

Goldberg telling us to stay away from red dye for that reason. I can't

remember what else he said!

Ron,

I wish I could remember more of what he said about the hyperperfusion (other

than avoiding red dye) ... maybe someone else will jump in here.

He is against the use of HBOT. I can't think of everything I have heard him

say on the subject, but the one thing I *THINK* I remember that stands out

is you can create hyperfperfusion by using HBOT in areas that previously did

not have it... and do damage.

Here is an extract from a post I wrote about a year ago on HBOT..

.......Dr Goldberg's biggest concerns were the potential to " over

oxygenate " in areas of the brain in NIDs kids that show up with " over

perfusion " in some areas - the " white " areas on a neurospect - and this

could in fact " burn out " cells - literally 'fry " those areas. ....

Knew someone would ask that Question... its HypoBaric Oxygenation Treatment.

Same technology used in deep sea diving to de-compress. Also sometimes used

to re-oygenate the brain if near death or after short period of oxygen

starvation - like with drowning casualties etc. Some have mooted and tried

to help our kids with this treatment - not sure of the success - see Dr G's

comment below..

See http://www.oceanhbo.com/

and

http://www.oceanhbo.com/client/ohc/neuroeff.htm if you to see the

application of Neurospects in this treatment - quite interesting.

Maybe I should start a new thread but just need to clarify something;

HBOT is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy not Hypo.

(http://www.reimerhbo.com/whatis.htm). There are a number of

websites to learn about it's applications. Most of them I have seen

are commercial sites that are advertising services. Dr. G's comments

regarding not using it are sound. Marty
