Guest guest
Gaylen, Do you know the manufacturer of the drug? I believe there are several manufacturers of this generic. I got a refill yesterday, and it is still white....has a big M on it. It is made by I think Mylan Labs (is that right, JIN??) > We just got a refill on my son's generic Tenex and found that they now have a > dye that is throughout the tablet. Guest guest
, You are correct, it is Mylan. I have to order it today too. I will know if they changed anything. I also have the pharmacy put in his recod of no dye (if possible) for his med. I just wondering, will it possible to have a write in, or call in to drug store for things like this. especially for med like Valtrex. It is a lot of problem washing off the dye. Guest guest
Hi Gaylen - Just their source is using the dye. There are still other dye free generic brands available - but it may not be available to that particular pharmacy. If unable to locate, then there should also be compounding as a possibility. --- Googahly@... wrote: > We just got a refill on my son's generic Tenex and > found that they now have a > dye that is throughout the tablet. Guest guest
Hi Gaylen, It definitely was a big problem for my son. Since I told the pharmacist that my son has a very negative reaction to red dye, they switched us back to " guanfacine " generic for tenex, it's what and oval shaped. Argie Dye-free Tenex? We just got a refill on my son's generic Tenex and found that they now have a dye that is throughout the tablet. The mail-order pharmacy that we use said that this is now used in both the generic and brand version. Have any of you found a recent form of this drug with no dye without having it compounded. For those of you whose kids have responded well to the white version, have you seen any problems with the red dye? Red dye has been a problem in the past with my son so I'm really hesitant to try it but since he seemed to get some benefits from it, I'm not quite ready to remove the drug. Any ideas? Guest guest
Gaylen, Be sure to ask for the tablet type. The capsul one from same lab has blue and pink dye. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for providing info on this. I talked to our mail order pharmacy again and learned that the problem with getting the non-dye version from them was due to a new contract that Aetna signed with the company who supplies the pink Guanfacine. If we want the white version, we can get it but have to do it locally. There are three companies that make the dye-free version. We've used the ones from Parr (ovals) and Mylan. Both worked fine but I found that the Mylan was easier to divide into the small amounts Dr. G recommended. Gaylen
Guest guest
Hi Gaylen, Walgreen's has always given us Guanfacine, which is white, as a generic for Tenex. Guest guest
I checked with Dennis at Friendly Hills Pharmacy yesterday - they only supply white Guanfacine from Mylan - Dennis says he always endeavours to supply our kids with the whitest dye free meds he can. --- " Donna B.
