Guest guest
While looking through Craig's list for special need stuff, I came across an ad for a private clinic on the west side seeking special-need teacher assistants for summer camp hours and for therapy. The requirement listed was a minimum of GED, but " classroom and/or experience with special needs students is required " . This tells me what that the people that work with our special-need children may not even have a regular high school diploma and most of their experience has to be " on the job " experience. This is a private clinic mind you. A while back, I got a newsletter from CFISD advertising for special-need teacher assistants for $7.75/hr, while for school bus drivers $12/hr. Ofcourse, there was absolutely no requirement for any education. Something to ponder upon.!!!
