Subject: An Alert and A Challenge

Hi Everyone:

As most of you know last Tuesday amid much fanfare, the Expanding the

Promise for Individuals with Autism Act of 2007 was introduced by Senators

Clinton (D) and Allard ®. Finally a bill that begins to address the

service needs of individuals with autism -- we have reason to celebrate!

That said, now the real work begins -- we must work to get every Senator we

can as a cosponsor of this bill. Please take the time to go to the ASA's

website and respond to the action alert. It literally takes less than a

minute to fill out your name and address on the web form and press the

submit button, and an email will be sent to your Senators. Here is the web

address:

http://www.autism-society.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle & id=9352 & news_iv_ct

And now my challenge:

ASA is able to track how many people respond to the Action Alert from each

state. I know that land is the best state in the nation when it comes

to activists on behalf of autism, so I am therefore challenging my fellow

landers and every other state to get the most e-mails to their Senators.

Just before the Senate's August recess or sooner if the bill starts to move

through Committee, I (with the help of Walter at ASA) will make sure to post

out the state by state results from the alert on the ASA's Chapter

Leadership Network. The ASA chapter(s) from the winning state -- the state

with the greatest percentage of responses compared to its population based

on the 2000 census (so that big and small states can fairly compete) -- will

receive a special as yet unnamed gift..... so get ready to eat land dirt

folks..... and forward the action alert to everyone you know!
