[PROVE] ACTION to Stop HPV Mandate and New BLOG

Dear PROVE Members,

Your efforts are really helping to start to move things in the right direction

to STOP Governor Rick 's intrusive executive order forcing our little 6th

grade girls in Texas to be vaccinated against the sexually transmitted HPV virus

in order to attend the 6th grade!

There has been much movement, but we have a long way to go. Multiple

legislators are filing bills, and typical supporters of the governor are not

accepting this outrageous power grab usurping the legislature, ignoring

efficacy, safety, and cost issues, and trampling parental rights without a

fight. Two of our members, and Watts have very generously and

unselfishly volunteered a tremendous amount of their time and created a

phenomenal BLOG tracking the efforts to overturn 's executive order. You

friends who are concerned about what is going on. If you come across something

that you think needs to be added to the BLOG so we can have an accurate history

of the opposition to mandating HPV vaccine in Texas for the rest of the world to

see, please submit it or add your comments to something already posted! It is

This is the time where we really all need to get busy continuing to contact our

elected state officials. It's time to dial the heat up a little bit as we move

forward.

If you have not contacted your state representative and senator, PLEASE CALL,

EMAIL, and FAX them right away. You can view our original alert on our website

for links on how to contact them and talking points. If you have contacted

them, call and find out where they stand on this and let us know!

If you can take the time to write letters to the editor of you local papers and

call in to radio shows and TV stations especially when you see things you know

to be misleading or untrue, it can be a huge help.

Additionally, now is a great time to let both the offices of the Speaker of the

House and the Lieutenant Governor know how upset you are over the prospect of

Mandated HPV Vaccination ordered by your Governor! Let them know your concerns

and ask what they are doing to help restore the power back to the people and the

legislature. Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst has already state publicly a

preference to a HPV program that allows parents to OPT IN instead of mandating

it. Letting them know how you feel will keep them thinking about this.

Finally, the governor's office needs to hear the criticism from everyone for

what he has done. Another one of our wonderful members in Houston typed

up all the contact phone and fax numbers to all of 's staff. Let's all get

busy calling - it is a long list and every one of his staffers needs to be

educated on this issue so they can express your concerns to the Governor.
