Guest guest
Hi , I agree with the concept of mainstreaming, and I've read a great deal of material on the topic. We orignially wanted to put into mainstream kindergarten, but when we visited one, we knew it was the wrong place for him *at this time*. I feel strongly that the best thing for him right now is to leave him in a place where he's thriving, let his self-esteem and confidence build naturally, and to gradually increase the amount of inclusion he gets over the next year so that he'll be ready for full inclusion once he completes the first grade. Appreciate your input and would definitely be interested in those book titles -- Donna
Guest guest
Donna, First grade is easier to deal with, classwork is not as hard. You can just deal with his social, and ignor classwork will not hurt you much. Second grade itself is a challenge, it is more writing, more classrom interaction. It is hard to adjust to second grade without other problems. Even harder is the third grade.
