Guest guest
Hi Shona, I just had this conversation with Dr. Goldberg last week, because we had the same thing happen with , who was sick with viruses all through November. The answer is, yes, it's quite common - even normal - for a *any* child, even a neurotypical one, to experience regression when he or she is sick with viruses, and I can tell you from experience that they do bounce back once they completely recover. It's very frustrating while you're going through it, but she will bounce back. Hang in there! Donna help with regression Hi all! I have a quick question about regression. We are a year into the protocol and have seen a major regression with my oldest child (5 years) in the past 5 weeks. It has coincided with her having three or four viruses back to back. These viruses were confirmed by the pediatrician as being viruses and not bacterial infections. She's lost a lot of ground in fine motor skills and expressive language. Is this common? Will she regain what she's lost? We have a phone consult today and I'm definitely going to bring this up. Just wondered if any of you had been thru this. Thanks! Guest guest
Bingo! My son fits into this category perfectly. It seems though that he was never really ill. But as I look back, he had a tummy thing for a few days, and before that he had a flu shot. And I kept updating Dr G about the regressive behavior, with no real feedback from him except to keep going...actually he had us cut back on the number of Valtrex doses in a day! And then like a light switch, he snapped out of it. (I can almost pinpoint the date and time this happened!) And just continued to " brighten up " . He even has a virus now....fever and a bit of a cough (i bet it is a lesser version of the flu since the flu is ALL around us in Indiana) and even with this illness he seems to still be " on " . Guest guest
Shona, We get regression with every viral anything that catches. I know he's getting sick before he even shows signs of illness cause he starts looking goofy and off. We've never had five illnesses back to back, I'd imagine that would really throw off, too. Dr. G. might want to start you on antibiotics, he had us on them for quite a while because had some fluid in his ears that wouldn't resolve, even tho they weren't infected. He told us to contact him if was ever sick for more than 5 days, even if it's viral. Any longer and it stresses their immune system more than it can handle. Important part is, always seems to bounce back to normal (tho it seems like forever) Keep her diet real clean and try to minimize environmental allergies and stuffiness. I found that running two humidifiers with these winds has really helped our stuffiness at night, much more than decongestants. Hugs, Becky help with regression > Hi all! Guest guest
Thanks Becky. She's actually starting to pull out of this. She was goofing around yesterday and said, " Boy, I'm silly. " First appropriate sentence I've heard in a while. She was able to trace some letters a lot better this afternoon and to color in all of a picture. Dr. G changed her back to Valtrex to see if it would help with her susceptibility to all of these viruses. Thanks for the support. Guest guest
On the topic of getting sick frequently, has anyone noticed a reduction in minor illnesses after starting IMGG?? That alone would be a good reason for us to start using it, since little viral things really knock back. Thanks, Becky Re: help with regression > > > > > > >
