Guest guest
Our doctor just prescribed acyclovir for my 8 year old Asperger's son. We will be starting soon, but I wanted to know what kind of side effects I should be prepared for and whether anyone has had success (or failure) with this medication. We'll be moving to Valtrex soon, but the doctor is concerned with my son's sensitivities to medication, so we are starting with the milder acyclovir first. Any tips or advice would be very welcome. Thanks in advance.
Guest guest
Hello , Would you mind telling me if your doctor prescribed acyclovir to treat Asperger's and which state do you live in. Guest guest
Hi, Becky! Dr. Goldberg isn't our doctor, so I'm not certain what he'd say about yeast die-off. Maybe someone else on the list could be more helpful in what his thoughts on die-off might be. Anyone? In our particular case, we had the OATS and Comprehensive Stool Anaylsis done before we started attacking the yeast. My son had it so bad, we couldn't risk Diflucan because our Dr. was worried about his liver. Instead we have done a low but consistent dose of Nystatin. The die-off effects were pretty bad for us, nonetheless -- sweating (especially at night), very moody and tempermental, red cheeks, red ears, red rash on bottom and thighs, acne (and he was only 6 at the time!), explosive and loose stools, and lots and lots of gas. It lasted for several weeks. The good thing about having the above tests done first is that the lab tests the yeast to see what the strains are resistant to, so you don't waste time on an anti- yeast medication that the strains are able to resist. We have the tests done once a year to determine how well the medication is working. At this time (2 years later) we are still on a low dose of Nystatin. We have done a series of different good flora and a couple of other treatments and each year, the yeast gets less and less! Yeah! Did I answer your question? > , > > No help on the acyclovir here, but I'm SOO interested in the yeast > symptoms you described.
