I just wanted to chime in on this thread. My son has always been one who

appears fine when he is ill except this time. Before my son got the flu

last week, he has been the best I've ever seen him. I have been greatly

relieved and feeling very optimistic about him. Well, he got the flu and

was doing pretty well, symptoms were minimal and then on the sixth day

of being sick all his autistic symptoms are back in full gear. It is

absolutely heartbreaking to see and endure. I wish I had known about Dr

G's desire for us to contact him right away on any illness and to not

let them go longer than five days as it is too hard on the immune system

(as I have just read on past lists.) I can see that as far as my

son goes. Dr. G is absolutely on track. If I ever doubted him before I

certainly don't now. The immune connection with the autistic symptoms

has been so dramatic and obvious this time and exactly on day six of

being sick, just like Dr G said. I guess his immune system just got over

stressed after being sick for five days and now he is freaking out, he

is so intense and loud and non-sensical and difficult to be around. I

wonder how long to get him back where he was. Anyone out there been

through this? It is interesting how he has switched from appearing

normal when sick to now appearing almost normal when well and completely

autistic when ill. Maybe this is a good sign. I emailed the office.

I'll let you know what he recommends. Here's wishing you all Happy

Holidays and hoping we all get through this to better times. Jerri Gann
