Guest guest
What a completely wonderful experience!!!Thank you for sharing this. I am so happy for you and your child!! It must have just knocked your socks off! May the blessings continue to come your way! Please share them with us! Fran Amy Jamison wrote: Okay everyone...this is so wierd.... I read years ago that children with autism seemed to benefit from music around 80 bpm..reggae etc. But, frankly...haven't noticed it too much here. Guest guest
That is FANTASTIC!! I had not heard the specifics like 80bpm or anything like that, but my son has been in Kindermusik since 6 months old (pre dx) and will ignore everything I say/do/ try to teach him *UNLESS* I sing it! Or a toy or video sings it. Once he knows it he will use it in a " non singing " way. > > Thank you Fran! > -Amy > > fran katz <frankatz99@... <frankatz99%40yahoo.com>> wrote: > What a completely wonderful experience!!!Thank you for sharing this. Guest guest
We had something kind of similar. We do not own a piano but 7 yr. old loves music. Last year when he was six he used to walk around humming classical music all of the time. We were visiting a friends house who had a new keyboard and we were all standing around and jokingly we said " come and play Twinkle Twinkle " Austin walked over to the keyboard and played the entire song into the second verse and then walked off! We were all pretty freaked out and asked him to do it again because we thought it was a fluke. He did it AGAIN....then he goes to the high notes and played something that had a hint of classical and then he walked off to play video games. We could not get him to play again and he appears to have no interest in it for the most part but obviously he could really learn this if he wanted to - we bought a key board and he ignores it. Austin is like , he does not talk much but will sing songs. He can type great on the computer, he is self taught but pretty darned good at it so I know he would have the dexterity for it. Guest guest
That is awesome, Amy! And (and everyone)--you are also right... you never know what our kids are absorbing. Our ASD son was 3.5 yrs when I was pregnant with our second son. He acknowledged the bulging belly, but barely. He certainly wasn't vocal about it or even seemingly that aware/able to understand. About a month ago, we saw a pregnant woman at the park. My son (now almost 7), " There's a baby in her tummy! " I said " that's right " and he said, " Like you, Mom, when Luke was in your tummy. " Please, remember, they are there... always there, listening, learning, absorbing. God bless them! best, kari Singleton wrote: Wow Amy what a great story!!!!!
