High Purine Diet and Mayonnaise

High purines foods are the things we all love: organ meats, dark meat

poultry, salmon, sardines, herring caviar. My bet is that this is a

Metabolic Typing issue. Some people should not eat quantities of these

foods, if they do they might well get gout or other problems. For

others these foods are just the ticket. There is no one good diet for

everyone!

In my opinion it is rather a waste of time to make mayonnaise from lard

and coconut oil. Good olive oil has a definite place in our diet and

that is what the traditional recipe is. I like my mayonnaise to taste

like mayonnaise. i do use one/3 part Flora brand sunflower oil just

because it is too strongly flavored for me with 100% olive oil. And

it's easy this way. i do use plenty of lard and coconut oil as well as

ghee and goose fat and some suet. I just try to find the most

appropriate use for each. Just like the above, I think one can get into

trouble being too one sided, unless you are attempting a short term re

balancing.

Just my two cents.

Yes, I have found the sunflower/olive oil blend to be the most tasty

with good spreadability, without separating too much. I make it when

I can get my hands on good, expeller-pressed sunflower oil.

Bingo! , iirc in Nutrition and Your Mind

theorizes all gout sufferers more than likely are slow

oxidizers, aka carb type after looking at his

research, considering how type specific diets worked

and that gout responds to low purine diet.

Don't forget high purine mussels for a change.
