Guest guest
It's over. We received 21 inches in our neighborhood. We are half shoveled out. A snowplow got stuck earlier this evening on the corner before it could plow our street. This was a dump truck with a plow. Not a pick-up with a plow. A front end loader had to dig out the truck before the truck could adjust itself and start plowing again. The biggest drift I have seen in our neighborhood was about 6 feet high. We had a three foot high drift back by the garage and a 4 to 5 foot drift just in front of my car. Lake Shore Drive in Chicago is jammed with vehicles. One person left their car in the middle of the storm, wandered into the Lake and fell in and died. Others abandoned their vehicles. The storm started around noon by me yesterday, but started in earnest at about 2:30 yesterday. Our street did not get plowed until around 7:00 today or thereabouts. Now the cold weather comes. 6 inches of snow is predicted to arrive sometime next week also. Administrator
Guest guest
That's impressive. I remember Lakeshore drive as that is the route the taxi took between the hotel and some museums and back again. That is a very exposed area to the lake. Hang in there and don't hurt yourself shoveling that snow or trying to get around. In a message dated 2/3/2011 12:45:13 A.M.
