Guest guest Posted May 24, 2007 Report Share Posted May 24, 2007 Title: Walk Manager - Houston Reports to: Senior Regional Director - Midwest Location: Houston, TX PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to raise money for Autism Speaks by organizing volunteers, creating awareness, and implementing Walk events. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Achieve the revenue goals for scheduled events. Work with supervisor to establish and implement planning timelines, income goals, expense budget and participant recruitment strategies. Execute in partnership with volunteer leadership the Walk for Autism Research, specifically managing the Walk committee recruitment and retention. Work to achieve the Walk goals through practicing the Walk strategies identified in the business plan for the annual walk, including strategies regarding sponsorship, team recruitment and retention, media outreach, kickoff and a year-long communications plan. Locally implement global campaigns of Autism Speaks such as advocacy, national walk extensions, parents as partners, community outreach and chapter organization Manage the Walk for Autism Research day of event logistics and the year-long process of Walk administration, including but not limited to day of logistics, data entry, acknowledgements, and materials management. Manage and provide administrative support to volunteer committees. Make presentations to businesses, organizations and community groups to recruit teams of walkers. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Experience: Minimum 2-4 years experience in development, fundraising or special events Some experience conducting special events, preferably Walk events Background recruiting and working with volunteers Related Skills and Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills Organized and detail oriented, with solid administrative skills Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, Excel, database (Raiser's Edge preferred) If you are interested in applying for this position, or know of any qualified individuals, please submit resumes to pdesaules@....
