Area advocates have formed a group (A.I.M.High!) to promote communities wherein individuals of all levels of ability work side-by-side with others, respected for their contributions and inherent value as human beings. A.I.M. High! hopes to partner with all organizations within Tarrant County and surrounding areas as they promote awareness, build knowledge, and assist systems in developing inclusive environments for individuals of all levels of ability. " We are very excited to become a program within the Arc of NE Tarrant County. In so doing, we will have a greater ability to reach out to a wide group of individuals, " said Mrs. Wilhelm. The 2007 Goals for A.I.M.High! are as follows: 1. Promote awareness of A.I.M High and increase membership. 2. Utilize positive programs to promote inclusion: * Inclusion Teacher of the Year * National Inclusive Schools Week * Local and national speakers * Email group addressing issues of inclusion 3. Hold quarterly meetings for support, education, and planning. Inclusion has long been accepted as best practice in schools across the United States. Likewise, segregation within the community is being replaced with opportunities for persons of all levels of ability.
