Guest guest
I had heard about this type of workout online then read about it in newspapers and in exercise books and had given up finding a local class. The only way I thought I could try it was by ordering a video off its website but didn't have a clue of where to begin. http://www.teleport.com/~nia/nia1.html We went to visit my folks yesterday to give them some moral support cuz my dad had been diagnosed recently with lung cancer and did our routine trip to their Walmart cuz there is no Walmart near us. Lo and Behold what do I see but the NIA workout done by the couple that created it and it was only $5!! I put on quite a show of joy in that store I really believe the Fickled Hand of Fate led me to it and that our luck is changing. OK so I couldn't resist and did it this morning and just did a weight workout afterwards to stay on schedule. It really seems like what I have been searching for cuz Tae-Bo is too fast making me have to modify alot and Tai Chi is too slow and actually puts too much pressure on my knees. They constantly show 2 variations, the left is more advanced and the right is more modified but keep reminding everyone to do their own thing and whatever feels right for them. Alot of moves reminded me of Tae-Bo. There is very little walking out and the body is in constant motion, most of the moves are easy to pick up and work all of the muscles in balanced contractions and extentions. The ending stretch is very gentle if you do the modified version on the right. My major problem painful areas handled it very well and my heartrate stayed in my target range with no pausing. They recommend that you can do it everyday but should vary the intensity doing it energetically one day and relaxed the other day, pretty much how I have been modifying and using Tae-Bo. The video was taped in 1987 but repackaged in 1998 If I had be given this class back when I tried an aerobics class when my kids were little, I never would have evolved into the physical blob I became finding aerobics too tough on my ankles having the same condition in my ankles that is carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrists. Too bad it didn't catch on more and it took the power of the internet to find it Barb who will be doing it again tomorrow cuz tomorrow is my recovery day and will do it lightly going for the stretch and may be doing qvc weather permitting

Good luck and I hope you body continues to feel better. Temera Who is so impressed by those of you who have major physical problems but have overcome them in such a wonderful manner. After my day with Lucie yesterday, where I had to push and lift (with Lucie's help) the baby carriage around, my wrists were really sore last night and this morning also... My left wrist has started to swell up again (dang!)... So actually, this sounds like a good exercise video for me... Next time I go to wal mart, I'll look it up! Janick who's knees and ankles though are stable (pain wise)
