They should just leave the existing system alone. Let the market solve its own problems. The new rules are entirely too complicated and will cause problems down the road.

I've recently been reading recently that the growing amount of data on the net, particularly with the number of companies allowing downloadable movies and other things, that the net could slow to a crawl. The system the FCC proposes would shift the cost directly to the consumer via the internet providers who can charge based on internet usage. That's how it was done when I first started using the Internet in 1991. That could very easily become extremely expensive. What I see happening is that it will make the majority of the people curtail their internet usage, thus depriving them of easy access and will also cost the companies a great deal of money, if not bring them to collapse.

What would be better is to forget net neutrality and let the companies discriminate against the massive files like movies, or better still, charge the companies a premium for their access. That way the regular internet user will not be affected by price increases and the cost will go to those who actually are causing the issues, those who download movies and such. This would keep the companies running and won't put them in danger of being taken over by the FCC, which I believe will be coming soon under this new plan.

I wish there was a way to sift through the net and get rid of anything that

clutters it up too much. Spam sites, porn, etc. That would solve a lot of

problems.

Porn sites are roughly 10% of the total number of sites in the US. They also account for over $10 billion annually in the US alone. I've read that internet porn users have an average age of 24 and the fastest growing market is 12 to 17 year olds, particularly in Europe. Since pornography is rapidly degrading as audiences become jaded into increasing depravity and brutality and humiliation of the women in the films, then it might not be a bad idea to clamp down on it once again.

It might also help to end the jumpy and animated ads. Some pages have half a dozen of these things jumping around on the screen. That has to take up a fair amount of bandwidth. So would the 30 second long commercials that are cropping up before you can view news clips and such. I still prefer reading the stories but sometimes there is no choice.
