I've also met or run into or been forced to put up with parents who are more

than happy to use a diagnosis as the great whitewash of excuses for their

refusal to parent their children appropriately. How often have any of us heard

a parent say about their child who is running about the restaurant, tripping

over other patron's feet, and screaming at the top of their lungs, " Oh, he can't

help it ... s/he has [diagnosis.] "
