Well, here in Australia they all run round, never seen a shed or barn! I'll

give these two some thought...

I've never heard the Klauenstand thing, but going by your description I'd say

" holding pen for hoof care " .

These must be " free-stall barns " or " free stalls " . Free-stall barns allow cows

to move around throughout the barn and lie down in any stall as opposed to

individual tie-stalls.

I can only find " TMR-Mix " and " Totale Mischfutter Ration " googling. Can you

interpret the sentence as {Mischration in

der Fuetterung eventuell mit zusaetzlicher Kraftfuttergabe} oder {TMR}? It

might just not be written clearly.

Ich habe in " Google " jede Menge ueber Klauenpflege gefunden, aber keinen

Klauenstand. Dein Vorschlag klingt gut. Ebenso der fuer Laufstall.

I guess as that might be a german invention there might be no " proper " term

out there yet and I would probably try something like " claw care

stand/station (Dictionary for Klauenpflege see below; for " Stand "

" standing " , " stall " )

This is the " free-roaming cow indoors.... " my dictionary gives " loose house "

and " pen " for it (which I must admitt I have not heared off so I am not sure

whether those refer to cows, sorry! .But Laufstallhaltung (wich in German

definitely refers to cows!) is translated with " loose housing " so may be you

can use that " transfered to loose housing.. " Is " Klauenpflege " a question ?

Dictionary: claw care (including claw trimming of the ruminants)!

I would prefer your first suggestion....

definitely NOT (main reason for my reply) as much as I understand

free-roaming cows are animals that are just allowed to run around (?) and

" umrindern " is " return to oestrus " or " failure to conceive " ; sounds a little

odd in three words but those are even the translations that my " Dic. of

Veterinary Medicine and Biosciences " gives ....

Noch zur Ergaenzung bzw. Bestaetigung:

Klauenpflegestand: claw-treatment (-cattle)- trade; foot trimming box

Laufstall: loose housing stable; covered yard

Umrindern: to return to service; to return to oestrus; to return to heat

(Alles aus: Haensch/Haberkamp: Woerterbuch der Landwirtschaft)
