LOUIS — KMOX –The anti-vaccine movement is putting children at direct risk for infections and even death — according to pediatricians attending a national conference this week in San Francisco. SLU Care and Cardinal Glennon pediatrician Dr. Ken Haller says much of the anti-vaccine sentiment is based on false information that vaccines can cause autism and other illnesses. " The problem is if people believe these completely false and unfounded claims about vaccine safety and don't get their kids vaccinated, they're putting their own children's health at risk and the health of other children at risk. " said Haller. Dr. Haller tells KMOX we are seeing large outbreaks of easily vaccinated infections like whooping cough and measles simply because parents are choosing not to vaccinate against them.
