I'm trying to understand what the " étage sous-mésocolique "

would be -- it appears in an operative report on a

pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure) for cancer

of the pancreas:

" L'étage sous-mésocolique est sans particularité, nous

débutons donc l'intervention par la kochérisation du duodénum... "

I understand that this " étage sous-mésocolique " involves the concept

of dividing the peritoneal cavity into two spaces, above and below

(or in front of and behind) the transverse mesocolon, but I can't seem

to figure out what this would be called in English... maybe I should've

paid more attention in anatomy class??

If anyone has any ideas, they would be most appreciated!

Confusedly yours,

Marla
