Guest guest Posted February 20, 2001 Report Share Posted February 20, 2001 En castellano existe una diferencia esencial entre Aparato y Sistema, aunque para tu tranquilidad te diré que la literatura científica anglosajona no lo tiene en cuenta, y por tanto siempre los traducen por " System " . En castellano, un sistema es un conjunto de órganos con una función común y una estructura también común. El ejemplo más claro sería el sistema nervioso, formado por el cerebro, médula espinal, ganglios nerviosos y nervios, constituidos todos ellos por neuronas. Un aparato es un conjunto de órganos con una función común pero con estructura diferente. Por ejemplo: el aparato locomotor, constituido por huesos y músculos, o sea, por células de distintas estructuras. O el aparato digestivo, con dientes, esófago, estómago, hígado, etc... I think they can be synonyms in Spanish and German but for the anatomic apparati I would use system in English (or the latin expression apparatus... if that is used). Hm is that understandable? Another try: Hexal Dictionary (German-English-medical) apparat = apparatus, device, system apparatus respiratorius (German uses latin a lot especially in Anatomy)=respiratory system; a. digestorius= digestive system..... The only referee (as in football) is usage. So, the best to do is to check usual terms in the anatomy books/sites of the target language. Please, note that, even in French, the English has modified (Frenglish) the traditional use of both terms.
