Guest guest
Ok, I have crackers in the dehydrator. I read in the archives that it was difficult making the crackers with wheat but I had no problems at all rolling them out (I used white wheat) They look neat too as I only had black sesame seeds LOL. I also made a batch of yogurt dough and baked half as a tart shell and half as a medium pizza crust. When cooled both will go into the freezer for next week. Dh said he'd buy me one thing and I can't decide weather I want the motorized base for my grain mill or the thunderstick pro mixer (you may have seen it on TV) The main reason I want it is to make mayonaise. We aren't wealthy and we usually have to buy bottom of the line when we look to buy a small appliance so my blender is anchient and I can't make mayo in it because it heats up so much the mayo is literally steaming hot when it's done!!! And my food processor is a cheapy and does a terrible job with the mayo. With the tunderstic you don't even have to add the oil drop by drop you can add it all at once and in 30 seconds approx you have nice thick mayo. I use a LOT of mayo so it would be a since to quadruple the recipe and still be done in less than 5 minutes whereas with the FP it takes over 15, IF the motor doesn't overheat on me. The grinder motor would be nice as I'm starting to look like Arnold Swartzeneggar (I KNOW I spelled that wrong LOL) grinding all my grain by hand! ::sigh:: decisions decisions! I'll probably go with the thunderstic and start begging for the grinder again when my birthday rolls around LOL. Well, tommorow is grocery day so I have to use up all the old food today and clean out the fridge and make my list. I have my grocery money VERY tightly budgeted (the only way I can even possibly afford to eat like this) and this week all I have to get is fresh veggies, milk, cream and a few small things. Found out fresh fish is the cheapest meat in my area so the freezer is stocked with lots of fish, a big turkey I got on sale (oh yeah, christmas is comming!) a duck, a big bag of liver (tried another recipe for liver last night, Dh polished his plate clean, ds ate it 'cause he has to clean his plate, dd finished it because it's an animal product (she is a born carnivore!) and I couldn't choke down more than 2 bites ( How long are you supposed to soak it in lemon juice? I did 4 hours and it was WAY too sour. ::sigh:: surely SOMEWHERE there is a beef liver recipe I'll like!!! After making that pate I know how I'll eat chicken livers!!! Though I hear chicken livers are easier to eat then beef anyway. Calf liver would probably be a bit milder but I can only find chicken and beef. Any ideas? I know when I was little I LOVED liver boiled LOL. My aunt would make some for her dog and I would stand by the stove and wait for my plate LOL.
