I was talking to my grandmother today about our switching over to WAP from SAD.

She told me to be very careful with raw milk- they gave it to my mom when she

was 1 yr old, and she had such HORRIBLE diarrhea... then she pondered a moment

more and said, of course you know, everyone else had raw milk and butter and

such, and it never gave us any problems- never did with her when she was older

either.

Then she told me about my grandfather's very weird family, who had immigrated

from Lithuania. His father would drink the blood from the chickens when he

killed them, and they ate all kinds of weird and awful things (she specifically

mentioned steak tartare).

Then I thought back to spending Thanksgivings with them as a little girl- my

Grandfather didn't just eat the meat, he ate the giblets as well (and taught me

how to love organ meat by sharing). He also ate the knuckles off of the joints.

And now I look back and think- wow. how cool! Of course, due to her influence

and his new religion, he's now vegetarian, and they're both having some

significant health problems despite all of their daily supplements. Oh well- I

have memories to treasure that I hadn't thought about, really since that time.
