Guest guest Report post Posted April 14, 2012 Could you describe more the ERP exercise you made up and how it worked? Rhonda Re: Concerned that my 5 year old daughter may be showing signs of OCD !! My son was diagnosed at age 3, and yes, you can do CBT/ERP at that early of an age. It is really hard and they have a difficult time grasping it, but I say jump on it with CBT/ERP. Even if it is not OCD, it can help. My nephew starte having clothing issues ( would only wear one pair of pants and one shirt at age 5) and my sister in law was freaked that he had OCD. I gave them a simple ERP exercise to do, which they did for a week and he was " cured " - now wears everything. Clearly not OCD but it still helped. I will say that my youngest son has shown some repetitive behavior around nighttime routines and I have thought in the past " oh , no, here it comes " but the difference is, he does not freak out if you stop him. It is really a learned behavior and he is not emotionally tied to it- but either way, if she is doing OCDish stuff, it can be treated as OCD.
