Guest guest
Jim White ... a question you could perhaps help me with... I bought a few gallons of Modec MDF-500 to try out on an unoccupied hurricane-ravaged condo. MDF-500 is a binary cleaner/ disinfectant. 3.2% Hydrogen Peroxide mixed 50/50 with 3.2% Alkyl Dimethyl benzul ammonium cholorides (Quat) This costs $100 per gallon. (By the way ... you can make this yourself if you buy off the shelf Hydrogen Peroxide which is about 3.2% and buy the WalMart pool algaecide which is 10% Alkyl Dimethyl benzul ammonium cholorides. You have to dilute the pool algaedide 2 parts water and 1 part algaecide. The WalMart approach is less than $10 per gallon.) My question and concern is the following: The Modec marketing claims that this product is used in hospitals and homes. However the concentration of Quat in Sklar which is a widely used hospital disinfectant is only 0.154%. The concentration of Quat in the MDF-500 is 10X that of Sklar after dilution with hydrogen peroxide. I would be very skeptical of claims that this could be used in hospitals or homes with that high of a Quat concentration. Quat of course does not evaporate but leaves a residue that "keeps on disinfecting". I run across competitors using this product. They fog occupied homes including carpets, furniture and fabrics even though on the bottle it says "hard surfaces only" and even though the bottle says "spray" and nothing about fogging.
