Do you think she's reacting to the raw meat or there's >something else going on? > > > Hmmm...I don't really know what it might be. Have you stopped giving her other foods (with flavor enhancers) like kibble? The patties might not be able to compete with flavor-enhanced processed foods. What's in the BARF patties? Does it iclude veggies too? This is stab in the dark but one of my dogs doesn't like veggies so is not so interested in foods that have veggies mixed in. Other possibilities could be: --poor quality meat in the patties --patties causing stomach upset --she's really a cat disguised as a dog (cats seem to be fussy when switched to raw) Some folks recommend using digestive enzymes when first switching to raw, IIRC. I think if a dog's been on kibble for a while it's *possible* that the enzymes required to digest whole animal foods might be lacking at first, for some dogs at least. Probably a good HCl/pancreatin/ox bile product like Bio-gest from Thorne might be good for the transition. This is just on possibility though. Have you noticed if her stools look good or bad since switching? have you tried warming the patties lightly? It brings out the aroma and flavor more than cold meat. I might try a different raw product in your situation. I dont' know anything about the BARF patties, but there are plenty of other raw food products out there for dogs and it might be that she just doesn't like that particular brand. My dogs have always loved raw food. One is really crazy over tripe, as I've heard most dogs are, so that might be something to try with yours. My dogs really like mOrigins which is a mix of organ meats/bone/meat and includes tripe. But there's a 50 lb. minimum order so it would be a risk buying not knowing if your dog will like it. You could always call the owner, Laurie, and ask if they send samples though. www.morigins.com Bravo also has a wide variety of raw products. I don't use any of the products that contain veggies, though FWIW. You can always prepare veggies yourself and add them. I think most of these raw pet products contain *raw* veggies, many of which are indigestible raw, or worse, suppress thyroid function when raw, so I generally see them as a detriment to the product. http://www.bravorawdiet.com/ That's all I could think of. Christie spends a lot more time on the raw feeding lists than I do so she might have ideas/suggestions that I didn't think of. Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc.
