Descoware originated the variegated coloring now used by Le Creuset. You are correct that they are both enameled cast-iron and comparable in quality, but I score my Descoware for mere pennies at the flea markets and so am especially fond of it. I just bought an eight-piece set in perfect condition for forty dollars last week. Also, Child herself personally favored Descoware back in the day. Yes, that matters to me--that, and I'm a sucker for the underdog. Alas, I have not made good on my Turbo oven promises. This tiny kitchen is so overrun with new/used aquisitions I can't take it on right now; I'm filthy with things and urgently need shelving or a purge, one. B.
