The importance of creating and maintaining healthy schools is

becoming more evident as research and experience are indicating that

health and performance can be affected by the built environment. In

Nova Scotia, guidelines for Healthy School Design and Construction

were developed and put into use over the past decade. This webinar

will outline the guideline being used, what is being learned through

the construction of what we call " Healthy New Schools " , and will give

an overview of our complementary work to ensure these schools remain

healthy over their lifetimes. It will also touch on the similar

efforts to benefit the operations of existing schools and on the

partnership between " Green " school and " Healthy " school design and

construction over the last decade. November 20, 2007: 12 noon to 1 PM

Eastern Time. $40.00.

Presenter: of Enviro-Health Consulting Limited and

President and CEO of CASLE (Canadians for A Safe Learning Environment)

Participants will view the PowerPoint presentation using their web

browsers while listening on their telephones to the presentation.

Since the presentation is live, participants can ask questions, make

comments and exchange advice, all without leaving their offices.

To date, three in ten participants have said that HIP's webinars have

exceeded their expectations and almost all of the rest have said the

webinars have met their expectations. Nine in ten participants said

they would recommend HIP webinars to others.

Comments from confidential post-webinar evaluations include the

following:

• Easy to attend. Clear and up to date information presented in a

concise manner.

• Better than just a webcast or conference call format.

• Short and packed with information.

• Time spent is small compared to other ways of keeping up to date on

the subject. I also like the opportunity, however brief, to network

with others who are interested.

• Very convenient; a good way to learn more about a topic and connect

with other individuals interested in a topic.
