Guest guest
1) I get very low blood sugar. Today I was late getting lunch already then a friend called and by the time she hung up I was ready to pass out, literally! I ate a big chunk of meatloaf, an apple, 2 tbsp coconut oil, a few crispy nuts and a bit of yogurt before I finally felt ok again. Question is, what are the best things I can eat to get the blood sugar back up quickly (if anyone says white sugar I WILL hit you with my big NT book LOL). And what are some tips on copeing with this annoying condition. 2) I had my gallbaldder removed several years ago (before I knew anything about NT) made me hopping mad, the doctors said they were SURE it was my gallbladder that was cause the pain I was having at the time. They took it out and it was perfectly normal (grrrrrrr)!! I thought, what are they going to do, take out organs until the pain stops?! I could see it all now... Surgeon: " EUREKA!! Nurse! We did it. I've CURED her!!!!! " Nurse: " Doctor, you just removed her HEART! She's DEAD! " Sergeon: " Yes. But she not in PAIN anymore IS she? " Anyhoo, so here I am without a gallbladder. Animal fats do not seem to cause me any trouble btw. So what are some things I should/ shouldn't be doing diet wise? -- Mrs. () Siemens Blessed to be his helpmeet, 6 years and counting!!! Guest guest
Hi , I have low blood sugar problems too, if I wait too long between meals, I go into a full fledged panic attack, it is just awful, i have to bring food wherever I go. What you ate was just perfect, especially the meatloaf. Sometimes I need sugar faster than that too and I eat an apple. I even take the Organic baby food sweet potato/apple jar in my purse, you can chug that wherever you are and it will help. The best foods for the low blood sugar in my opinion are the animal meats/fats. Lamb ribs, beef ribs, steak, salmon, all fatty animal meats always help me and I can go longer between meals. I also drown everything in butter or olive oil and coconut oil helps, but it makes my heart race when I have too much. Also avocadoes, I eat one everyday, dark poultry, little to no grains, you can make almond flour muffins/breads instead of grain, but soaked millet is good if you drown it in fat. Things that make it worse: citrus, vitamin C, B complex vitamins, and just about most fruit except apples and pears. Hope this helps, Juli --- Siemens <mandamom2many@...> wrote: > 1) I get very low blood sugar. Guest guest
My blood sugar drops quickly and my best coping results are prevention, prevention, prevention. I hate that crashy feeling and even the quick meal is too late - takes hours for the headache and cr** to go away. Eating adequate mixed meals at regular intervals (no longer than 5 hours apart except for overnight 12 hour fast) and having take- along foods at all times. No carbs on their own. Almonds and prunes are in my pantry for emergencies. Also tuna packs and bags of baby carrots. I'm not kidding -even if I had to go to the hospital emergency room I would be prepared. That's how much I don't want to go to low-blood-sugar place. Connie > > 1) I get very low blood sugar. Guest guest
I won't tell you to eat white sugar, but of the food you listed, only the apple would have raised your blood sugar to any degree, at least in the first hour or so. Although if there were bread crumbs in the meat loaf, those would also help. Any fruit will do it, or bread. Also milk. If you need to bring it up quickly, go for fruit juice, then follow with protein for stabilizing your blood sugar. Ann > > 1) I get very low blood sugar. Guest guest
I was reading in NT that if you are hypoglycemic you should have a high fat diet and if you are hypothyroid you should restrict fat some. What if you are both? Eat a high-fat diet. Fat restriction is nonsense. -
Guest guest
- >Question >is, what are the best things I can eat to get the blood sugar back up >quickly (if anyone says white sugar I WILL hit you with my big NT book LOL). The better something is at raising your blood sugar RIGHT NOW, the worse it is for you later and long term, so you have to just find the best compromise. Some nuts and cheese might work for you, or just some nuts, or maybe a piece of fruit. Or you could try something unusual like ginger juice. >And what are some tips on copeing with this annoying condition. Eat more saturated fat, eat fewer carbs. >Anyhoo, so here I am without a gallbladder. Animal fats do not seem to cause >me any trouble btw. So what are some things I should/ shouldn't be doing >diet wise? Pretty much the same things anyone shouldn't be doing. Your main problem is that you can't store up bile. That doesn't mean you can't eat fat -- far from it, as you've discovered -- but you want to be careful to keep your stomach from dumping all its contents into your intestines insufficiently digested and at once. -

Guest guest
- >Forgive my ignoranc, how would I prevent this? Smaller more frequent meals? Sorry, I should've elaborated. That would be the standard advice, but I can't recommend that, because it'll eventually derange your hormone metabolism. The key is to avoid foods which you're allergic to, to avoid foods which can cause digestive problems (my recommendation would be to follow the SCD), and to give your system digestive assistance if necessary -- e.g. HCl, pancreatin, and bile supplements. -
Guest guest
Oh I am well deranged as it is! (LOL I couldn't resist that one). What is the SCD diet? Most of the foods that don't agree with me arn't even food (like soy and hydrogenated stuff and MSG) so I don't make a habit of consuming them if I can at all avoid it. Do you reccommend any particular brand of suppliments? Any to avoid? On 1/4/06, Idol <Idol@...> wrote: > > > Sorry, I should've elaborated. Guest guest
- >You had mentioned HCl, pancreatin, and bile >supplements. Unfortunately, I only have HCl and pancreatin supplements I don't recommend less than I don't recommend others, if you know what I mean. They all have nasty fillers. At the moment, I use NOW HCl for stomach acid and Labs Lipanase for pancreatin. I haven't found a bile supplement that I personally tolerate, but maybe someone else can make a recommendation. -
