I have had REALLY good luck with it at that ratio. And we have used it for years.

Now, if we were going to mix it in our dairy goats feed, and use it as a supplement to help try to increase milk production and butterfat, we would go with the higher amount.

If you are interested in learning a lot more about it, try to look up Ed and his wife, Bobbie Womack. I think they are in Arkansas. They did a really neat booklet years ago called "Shakleeizing Your Farm", and it has some really near stuff in it.

Basic H usage

<<It is NOT a dosage. DO NOT individually dose animals with it. Rate of use is 4 ounces per 150 gallons of livestock water.>>Hmmm, have you had good success with that ratio, Deb? Salatin in "Salad Bar Beef" says to use 12 oz per 100 gallons, or 1 Tbsp per five gallons. Four ounces per 150 gals would be MUCH cheaper!

This is the first I've heard of using Basic H as a feed supplement,

rather than putting in water. This would be even easier to use in

winter, when they could escape drinking supplemented water by eating snow.

I Googled " Womack, Shaklee, farm " and, despite trying variations and

several pages, came up with nothing at all, except for a one-line

sentence on a Devon cattle site about how someone sees nothing wrong

with a dose of Basic H in the water trough.

Any clarification you can give would be very helpful to all of us!

Thanks,

Hi Deb,

How long of a period of time are you giving the treated water to your livestock at the rate of 4 ounces per 150 gallons of water?

ie: I will give my sheep water treated with Basic H at the dosage of 4 ounces per 25 gallons of water for a period of four days at a time.

We use it more of less daily.

However, we use a trough that holds 100 gallons, and has an automatic watered on it. So typically, for the first couple of days, we will put 3 ounces in, and then we cut it back to about 1 3/4 ounce, and we use it in the trough every day year round.

I went to the Shaklee web site to take a look at this and price it

(!). There is a Basic H and a Basic H2. Which one are y'all using?

Thanks,
