Guest guest
Hyperemesis is an endless nightmare of gutwrenching misery that bears little relation to normal nausea of pregnancy. It means not keeping food or water down for days at a time, often requires hospitalization, and can lead to premature birth and low birthweight. The usual blood sugar issues are irrelevant - you have no control over what, when, whether you can eat. It's incredibly hard on the mother's body, as well, because the baby gets whatever nutrition is available, and often the mother has no way to replace it. KerryAnn - I hope I'm not offending you, but you may want to read the article on mothering.com about smoking pot for hyperemesis. It works, there is no evidence of harm, and if you suspect harm, balance that against the harm of untreated hyperemesis. I would also consider taking Bendectin if you didn't last time around, and starting immediately. Yeah, yeah, it's a drug, but I wish someone had explained that NOT taking something could harm my baby and my body.
